    Story

So I figured I should start out with explaining Las, since its closely tied in with the worldbuilding, and I want that explained before I explain the other guys. story hinges on it etc etc. If you see character names u don't recognize, they will be explained later

Btw it uses any pronouns but I'm going to be primarily using it/its okay thank u

    Lasair is a Spirit.

Spirits are entities born out of massive events; a death in these events spawns a Spirit, which usually has some amount of power depending on the event. Ex: The spirit of death was caused by the first death-- the death of a songbird. Now, it leads souls to the afterlife. That sort of thing.

Opposed to its siblings that want to just chill, Lasair itself wants to destroy. Patricularly, it wants to eradicate humanity, leaving only its siblings and this planet for them to rule. How terrible! In the scrollbox is it's backstory~

Lasair itself was born out of a massive fire that caused the destruction of one of the continents. This fire was started by humans (did that cause its bitterness towards them? does it even remember how it came to be? its unclear; anyways--)

Because of the circumstances of its birth, Las was born destructive. It didn't have a handle on its abilities, simply echoing the destruction it was created from. This was obviously an issue. Life (the oldest spirit) got pissy, for Las was destroying its fun, so it went and found a human to help it

Side note: Spirits are reliant on living beings in order to preform powerful magic. Humans happen to be the most sentient, so they recruit them when they need to do events like, say, locking another Spirit away. This just happened to be the first time they've ever had issues out of a spirit like with Lasiar, so they kiiinda don't know what to do...

With the human they recruited -- who will be important later dw -- they manage to lock Lasair away. Las is successfully trapped in another realm for now-- a pocket dimension, kind of. This act, however, resulted in the human dying. The spirits hadn't anticipated this, and had already promised him a reward in exchange for working with them. Oops. So the Songbird asks what he wants, and he asks for immortality; dying really freaked him. Death, a little hurt, grants his request by putting a shroud around him, allowing him to hide from its eyes. Yay now he's immortal

    Las is pissed :/

It spends centuries in there. Its powers are considerably weakened during this time, enough that it can kind-of contain them into a single form. That way it doesn't look quite as much like a forest fire yknow.

Bored, it fucks around, tries to entertain itself by warping itself into different shapes. Humans, animals, etc. It even learns a neat new trick! Burning sand into different shapes! (The hole its stuck in is a permenant beach in like... a galaxy. ik it doesn't make sense, don't look at me). It even gets the hang of making faces and stuff.

That gets boring fast, though. It's bored and hella upset at everyone. Can you believe it?? It's own kind chose to preserve the life of the planet over their sibling! Chose *humans* over Las! When it gets out of here, it's going to show the other Spirits that humans aren't as good as they think they are. They're are equally as destructive, and if Las deserves to be locked away for that, then so do these damn humans.

Las's dome allows it to still watch humans sometimes, only in some thinner spots. Cool thing about those spots... sometimes humanity can look in them, too.

So! Las eventually escapes, but that will be covered later on ;)

Oh, but this is important: due to its slowly increasing power, the world has entered a 15 year drought, and is slowly being turned into a wasteland. Before this, however, Las's heat was already leaking out of thin spots and into the world, causing it to slowly heat up over the course of a few centuries. Oh no! The drought thing only happens upon Las's release from its prison.

    I should explain its appearance:

    * When it's not reigning itself in, it's *massive*. Think the size of a forest fire. It's nothing but a sentient fire.

    * Later on, it reigns itself in. It becomes a pillar of fire, instead. This is also due to its weakened state.

    * When its released, it shrinks to fit the size of average human height-- but it's still nothing but a fire. Not keen to completely reveal itself, it uses a coat it put together while trapped to cover itself: a long, black, fireproof cloak. It's slightly shiny, like a trashbag, but with the texture of silk.

    * It tries to imitate humans, with mixed results. Using the glass-making trick it learned in prison, it molds together glass masks to use that resemble human faces. Sometimes it just looks like a pale human. Other times, it's unworldlyness is very apparent. To appear more lifelike, it will mold the mask while in use to show emotions: ie, letting the glass melt slightly so it shapes into a smile, moving eyebrows, letting the mouth open when it talks, etc. This faux 'skin' is always very very warm to the touch, for behind it is fire. Not able to create hair, it just wears the hood of the cloak over where the rest of a human's head would be (hehe the flames behind it kind of resemble hair). It uses this same glass method for limbs, but only if it needs them.

    * The fire grows larger upon angering it.

Probably important to note: Las has a group of people that follow it because they agree with its ideas on humanity (aka, they're all evil and deserve to die). The people in this group are aware that Lasair is not human. This fuels their worship, though; they worship this creature, believing it to be a God that will cleanse humanity's stain from the world. Religious hate group that also kills people, basically.

    Mmmmmmmm,,, some rambles:

Lasair itself is interesting to me. It didn't ask to be made. All that destruction was condensed and given to one of the unlucky casualties in the fire that created it. Upon birth, the universe hands you a bomb that immediately goes off-- what was Lasair to do? I feel like that's why it always relies on that instinct to destroy-- because what else was it created to do? It doesn't remember who it was, nor what it was. The only thing it remembers is awaking to a world on fire. What other purpose does it have to this world? At least Life and Death and the other Spirits have purposes, some ways to assist this world. What was Las supposed to do besides destroy?

But what were the other spirits supposed to do? Let it cause havoc? They had to lock it away.

I don't think the creation of Spirits is a kind thing. The bearer can't remember much outside of their new role. A soul, lost, is intertwined with this incredible power that they never asked for, nor know how to control. I don't know... just, to me personally, that would be a bittersweet fate. You've lost yourself, but... maybe you can serve a purpose to this world with the new burdens you've been given?

And, only knowing this new role, they don't have a code to go by. Your siblings are hard to find. Mostly, you just... do your own thing. Watch humanity from afar. Try to act our your new roles.

That's why they locked up Las. They didn't know what else to do.

And, again, Las itself... it claims it wants to leave enough of the planet left to rule with the other Spirits, but can it reign itself in enough to do that? That constant thrum of *destroy destroy destroy* ringing in its head is a difficiult thing to manage. When it eradicates people... will it be able to keep itself from destroying the rest of the planet? Or even attacking its own kin? It, itself, doesn't even know. Interesting how it doesn't particulary want to destroy its own kind, though. Even though they locked Lasair away, it doesn't want to hurt them. An eternity with them is better than an eternity all by yourself,

Ackk,, I've gone on a bit of a tangent here, haha. I like to think about these sort of things. And where else am I supposed to ramble about them lol

    ANYWAYS. Onto the next character
